Stena Recycling Poland launches international category in the Stena Circular Economy Award

It is now time for the eighth edition of the Stena Circular Economy Award – Leader of Circular Economy – which provides an opportunity for companies, start-ups, and students to showcase their sustainability activities, share innovative solutions, and inspire others to make positive changes.

The nomination process began on January 7.

New this year is that the competition will accept entries from both the Polish and foreign markets. A new category is “Companies implementing circular solutions in a market other than the Polish one”, in which companies introducing circular activities outside Poland can submit their actions. These companies may or may not have an office registered in Poland.

Circular Economy Leaders in action

“The modern world is moving towards a closed-loop economy, and the role of business in this process is crucial. Consumers increasingly expect companies to be transparent and take concrete action to protect the environment. The SCEA competition identifies Circular Economy Leaders who demonstrate that the circular economy is successfully replacing the traditional model of linear production and consumption,” says Aleksandra Surdykowska, Head of Marketing, Communications and ESG at Stena Recycling.

A future already underway

The circular approach brings benefits not only to the environment but also to business. Companies more often recognize the potential of waste as a valuable resource and the importance of working with others to achieve sustainability goals effectively.

“According to reports, circularity is declining worldwide, which makes it all the more important to share knowledge and best practices that prove implementing circular solutions is possible. Let us remember that in a circular economy we are not only talking about waste but also about changes in the entire value chain and new business models. Re-use strategies, the introduction of products as a service, changes in the design of products and services, or the aim to reduce the use of resources are all linked to the circular economy. The projects awarded in our competition are the best examples. We look forward to receiving entries for the eighth edition, where we will certainly see many more inspiring solutions,” adds Aleksandra Surdykowska.
