Lhyfe becomes the 1st player to guarantee the traceability of its green and renewable hydrogen

Each delivery of green and renewable hydrogen from Lhyfe can now include a Digital Product Passport, offering buyers full transparency on the origin of the hydrogen produced, the carbon footprint of its production and, soon, an “RFNBO-compliant” label.

This collaboration combines Lhyfe’s expertise in producing green and renewable hydrogen with Atmen’s innovative automated compliance and traceability platform.

Lhyfe, which has always aimed for the highest ecological performance in terms of carbon footprint and is committed to RFNBO certification proving the renewable origin of its hydrogen, achieves through this partnership a level of precision and granularity exceeding current European regulatory requirements.

Lhyfe, a pioneering producer and supplier of green and renewable hydrogen for industry and mobility, and Atmen, an integrated compliance automation platform, have decided to collaborate to set a new standard of excellence in carbon footprint traceability and transparency within the hydrogen and Power-to-X (PtX) sectors.

Advancing Transparency with the Hydrogen Digital Passport

With a commitment to maximum transparency and its rapid expansion in multiple European countries, Lhyfe sought to exceed current regulations even before obtaining its RFNBO certification. Thanks to its partnership with Atmen, Lhyfe now has a robust traceability system with unprecedented precision and granularity.

Each delivery of Lhyfe’s green hydrogen can now be accompanied by a Digital Product Passport—an innovation that provides a complete and precise description of the carbon footprint of the hydrogen produced, including detailed information:

– Energy sourcing: where, when, and how the electricity used in the production process was generated,
– Embedded emissions: step-by-step breakdown of the carbon intensity calculations,
– Supply chain contribution: the impact of each processing and logistics stage on the hydrogen’s carbon footprint.

This collaboration starts with the production unit in Bouin (Vendée, France) and will be extended to other Lhyfe sites.
The company has also initiated steps to obtain RFNBO certification for hydrogen produced at its various sites. Once achieved, the digital passports will include the “RFNBO-compliant” label.

This partnership delivers unparalleled traceability and compliance for Lhyfe’s green hydrogen, equipping clients with the tools needed to align with their emission and decarbonisation goals transparently.

Simplifying Compliance with Regulations Like RFNBO

By combining Lhyfe’s expertise in renewable hydrogen production and Atmen’s advanced automation software, this partnership simplifies compliance with strict sustainability regulations such as RFNBO.

– Precision in reporting: High-accuracy carbon intensity calculations ensure full transparency.
– Compliance automation: Automatically generated Digital Product Passports reduce human intervention for improved efficiency.
– Granular client alignment: Producers can meet their clients’ emission and decarbonisation targets with unprecedented detail.
